  • About

This is the second of a five part chronicle, telling several inter-woven stories through the Spanish Civil War, World War Two, and beyond.

As the Nazis invade Europe, a new war brings heartache, danger, death… and love, in the most surprising of places.

Rob thought that saying goodbye to his wife Annie would be the hardest thing he’d ever have to do; that was, until the fall of Calais. What lies in wait for him will change his life forever. For Annie, just the thought of losing Rob is almost too much to bear and everyone around her dreads how she’ll cope if the worst should happen.

Hans’ sadistic ways continue, fuelled by his hatred for the Jews, and for one man in particular. Karin’s love for Claudia is tested to the limits, but will she be found wanting? And how will she feel when she discovers the truth about her daughter? Franz reluctantly involves his wife Hannah in spying on his Nazi masters. Will he live to regret his decision?

Having lost her husband in the early days of the war, Felcia now lives for her son. But just when she starts to believe in the future again, her past comes back to haunt her, causing lifelong repercussions. Raisa hopes for a better time, now that she’s under the protection of Andreas and looks forward to their time together, while Gerhard, appalled by the treatment of the Jews in Warsaw, takes the greatest gamble of his life.

For each individual, their actions have far-reaching consequences that will revisit them and their loved-ones throughout the passing years.

    • Ginnette's Review!

      Ginnette's Review!

I find the scenario very interesting. Instead of writing about one group of people and exploring that group or family of people, this writer quickly introduces us to different groups of people and indeed, different countries! The stories take us from group to group, and country to country, in quick succession. A very good read with some distressing scenes. The battles between Good and Evil go on here. I very interesting and successful writing style has been used here!
